‘As the Crow Flies’ by Oenone Randall

Oenone Randall exhibtion at emerald gallery

We are delighted to welcome back copper and textile artist, Oenone Randall to our gallery once more. Oenone always arrives with a explosion of colour and sparkle and delivers the most creative and spectacular exhibitions.

This year she opens her exhibition with a collection of Maps, Compasses and Birds, that are each handmade to bring joy and make you smile.

Following a degree in embroidery, Oenone completed a masters in metalwork and now fuses her skills into her creations in such a unique and beautiful style, such an innovative artist.

‘As the Crow Flies’ features all the fun and delight you would expect, each piece of art is carefully planned and created - featuring 100 year old verdigris copper alongside vintage textile elements and ranging from small collectiable pieces to larger wall art - it’s a real journey of discovery when visiting the show.

Maps

Local to Buckinghamshire, Oenone has created many maps, featuring areas we all know and love. Stitched onto vintage fabric or old maps, each with careful reference details, they are beautiful.

Featuring the Thames Valley, London and towns and villages such as Marlow, Bath, Henley, Chalfont St Giles and our own Chalfont St Peter, perfect to explore and display in your home.

Compasses

Looking for direction? Could these help!!

Using layers of copper, and fine stamped details, each compass could assist in a different way! There are North, South East and West - but look closer and you’ll find some more fun options ( including Jam, Marmite, Honey and Marmalade or Tea, Coffee Wine or Gin!! ) Each compass has its own handmade display stand, so they can be diplayed and admired when you aren’t playing with them.

Birds

Hugely collectible and always flying off to new homes, Oenone’s talent for creating the most perfect english bird is amazing…. each bird is hand made in copper and then embellished with stitched bodies and wording.

The results are just beautiful - every bird is full of character and personality - with their skinny copper legs and huge feet, they will sit in any room and brighten your day.

Oenone has stocked us to the roof with birds this year, but they are selling fast… Throughout the exhibition new birds are arriving as Oenone makes replacements, so do pop in to see the flock, as its changing all the time 🙂

Oenone’s Exhibition is open daily from Tuesday to Saturday 9 to 5 until July the 6th.

The first two weeks of the exhibition, we are also taking part in Bucks Arts Weeks - the annual art trail for Buckinghamshire.

We are delighted to be part of a local art trail - The Chalfont Summer Art Trail - during this time… fancy an art fix? Come to visit us and 15 exciting artists during the art weeks (there are four venues just in our village) Bucks Art Weeks ends in the 23rd of June.
